Icopal has a proactive approach to Environmental Management, and recognises that it has a moral and legal duty to ensure that it does not carry out activities that adversely affect the environment. In our operations, we strive to reduce environmental impacts at a both a local and a global level.
Icopal Group is committed to developing Environmental Management Systems, and strives for compliance with ISO14001 in its activities and across all of its business units. The Group has engaged in a programme for accreditation in all of its global operations, and is proud to have achieved ISO14001 status. The Group operates an international programme of operational and environmental benchmarking, to improve performance in all areas. In the UK Icopal are scheduled to complete its ISO 14001 programme during 2008.
The company is registered as an authorised 'part B' process under the Environmental Protection Act, for which we are regularly audited, and we are proud to say that Icopal has a long-standing 'clean bill of health' with no environmental incidents or complaints in the Company’s history. All of Icopal’s emissions to air, water or land are managed to standards equal or higher than legislative requirements.

Sustainability Policy
Icopal are committed to ensuring the wise use of materials and resources within a framework in which economic, environmental and social factors are integrated and balanced.
Icopal Group has invested heavily in pioneering material recycling technology. Materials sourced from Icopal UK have a recycled material content exceeding that of our global and local competitors.
In the UK, Icopal are committed to reduction of energy consumption. Since 2004 we have reduced our gas and electricity consumption by 40%, as part of our policy for sustainability. As part of our commitment to environmental impact reduction, we have invested heavily in a water recycling system in our production processes, and have eliminated over 50% of our water usage and disposal in 2 years.
As part of our landfill reduction initiative, we have improved our production and quality processes, reducing waste disposal requirements by 30% since 2004.
Icopal actively seeks to reduce impacts from the use of packaging. We have partnerships with organizations that actively recycle and reuse raw materials.
Furthermore we have an environmentally pro-active purchasing policy, working with suppliers who adopt sound environmental practices. We operate a supplier accreditation programme which considers environmental management and impacts, sustainability and ethics.
